My Background
I have worked within the field of human services since 1984, including 14 years as a qualified field social worker, and have been registered as a Psychotherapist with The United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) since 2000.
I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner, and a member of the EMDR Association of UK & Ireland. I attended my qualifying training in EMDR during 2006-07.
My other qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy, and an M.A. ( 'With Distinction' ) in Humanistic Person-Centred Psychotherapy. These were gained from The Sherwood Institute, where I trained from 1992 to 1996 and 2002 to 2003.
I continue to engage in extensive study & training with regards the treatment of trauma and other issues. In order to further enrich my practice I have made an in-depth study of psychodynamic psychotherapy.
I adhere to the strict code of professional ethics & practice provided by the UKCP & Sherwood Institute.
I also hold a Bsc Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Leicester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Work from the University of Exeter.
